Wow! Last post for the month. Hard to believe that it is already here!

Day 30: If you wrote your memoir, what would the title be and why?

Resilient girl: down but not out.

You may recognize this as being my memoir in six words.

Things haven't always been the easiest for me. However, whenever I have been knocked down, I am able to pick myself back up, and start restoring the pieces to how they should be.

If I think of other reasons why this would be the title of my memoir, I will add them.

Thanks for bearing with me as I have been working through the challenge of blogging every day for a month.

Hello again! Post #3. Hard to believe that I have written prompts for every day this month. While they may not have always gotten posted on the correct day, they have gotten written. This is the second to last post for Blogember! Wow!!!!! I DID IT!

Day 29: Your take on the prompt Be Ridiculous

The dictionary defines ridiculous as "deserving or inviting derision or mockery; absurd." I think that's pretty accurate.

Life can be absolutely absurd. You just have to learn how to roll with the punches. So far, I have. I know that things haven't always been the greatest, but I just have to find the things that I can laugh at.

Find the humor in the small things... some of the best advice I have ever gotten.

Post #2 for tonight:

Day 28: Your life soundtrack:

While this is not the complete soundtrack, it is a good start to it:

Trace Adkins - You're Gonna Miss This, Just Fishin', and Songs About Me
Snow Patrol - Chasing Cars
Keane - Somewhere Only We Know
Hunter Hayes - Wanted

This list could go on forever!

I know, today is the 30th... I am playing catch up. Sorry!

Day 27: A book that honestly changed your life:

If I had to pick just one book that changed my life, it would probably have to be Nickie's Nook.

I went to school with Nickie, and her story is absolutely amazing. I cannot imaging being in her shoes, being in constant pain and having to move through life with it.

This story chronicles her life as both a blind person and dealing with a pain disorder.

Final post for tonight/this morning:

Day 26: a favorite teacher in life:

This one is easy!!!!

I would have to say that my favorite teacher was Herr Schons. He was a professor of German at my college. He encouraged me every time I wanted to quit. He helped me come up with several independent studies and he even convinced the deans of two schools to allow me to take more independ work (since I needed the courses to graduate, but they were not being offered when I could take them).

He was one of the first teachers that I told about my dad being sick. He was also one of the first people who got in touch with me when I got pulled from student teaching. He knew how much my dreams meant to me, and he reminded me not ti give up.

Rest In Peace Herr Schons. I miss you. Thank you for everything you have done for me.

Hello... yet again... well... now it's tomorrow so, I guess this is post 3 of 4 for the last couple of days from Blogember... oops, sorry.

Day 25: Write a love letter to yourself:

Ok here goes nothing. I have a feeling it won't be the greatest, because I have never read or written a love letter, but it's worth a shot.

Dearest Laurel,

L is for legacy. I cannot wait to see what mark you are going to leave on the world. You are well on your way. You got this girl... you will figure out what you want to do with your life, and you will do it.

O is for observe. I love that you watch and see what is going on around you before you make decisions. Do not lose this... it is a great skill to have.

V is for valor. You are brave. You went through a lot in the four-and-a-half years you were at school. While you struggled greatly, you never gave up. Remember, just keep calm and carry on.

E is for empathy. You have always been a caring person. You have always been the person that people can go to when they need a shoulder to cry on.

Remember, I love you! Things may get tough, but you are loved, more than you will ever know.

Love always,

Ok, this weekend has been absolutely crazy!

So, because I feel like I haven't been able to sit down, you get to read 3 posts from me tonight!

Day 23: your reverse bucket list.

At first when I saw this prompt, I was super confused. I know what a bucket list is, but I had never heard of a reverse list. Well, as it turns out a reverse list is a list of items you have accomplished in your life. This list is in no particular order... I am writing them down as they come to me. So here goes nothing:

  1. Get accepted to college

  2. Graduate college

  3. Travel to Canada

  4. Go to Disney World

  5. Survive the death of a parent.

  6. Wrote a letter to a famous person and got a response back (I was in middle school and we had to write letters to people. I chose to write to James Galway and was one of the last people to get a letter back. I got a hand-written response and an autographed picture).

  7. Sit next to a celebrity (I met Peter Fonda when in the airport in Bozeman, MT, but we didn't know it was him until later)

  8. Fly on a plane without an adult

  9. Adopt a pet

  10. Ride a train to go on vacation

  11. Visit Gettysburg (and several other Civil War battle sites)

  12. Stand at the headwaters of the Mississippi and go to the delta

  13. Graduate in the top 10% of my high school class

  14. Volunteer at church

  15. Start a blog

  16. Raise money for cancer research

  17. Walk in Relay for Life

  18. Learn multiple languages

This journal post is a work in progress. I plan to keep adding to it as I think of things, or as I check items off my list.

  4. Washington DC

  5. Canada (been here... multiple times, would love to go back)

  6. Ireland

  7. Kentucky

  8. New York

  10. Chicago (been here... multiple times, but there is so much to see and do, I want to go back)

If you had the ability... where would you travel?
